Huh!
I never thought of that before.
Here I was, just trying to figure out a way for my son(18 monthes) to feel comfortable using his prostetic leg. I just thought that by seeing a doll taking a leg on and off, being able to walk, etc.. would some how help him.

hmm that's an interesting one. as a self harmer (cutter) i usually feel very guilty for having made use of the emergency services, to the extent that i always walk to a&e dripping blood rather than waste the resources of an ambulance. Would being charged put me off cutting? No, because I have little control when I do it. But it might put me off getting stitches.
On the otherhand, you only have to sit in the waiting room at a&e on a weekend to see the results of binge drinking britain. Dozens of rowdy or passed out drunks, invariably accompanied by their gobby mates, insulting the staff and scaring the other patients. I think a charge would be difficult to administer. Perhaps have a PC on duty there at the weekends who can arrest them all for drunken and disorderly behaviour and issue an on the spot fine instead. They'd need extra security though lol.

I agree AR, like many things in the world of medicine and disability it seems that we have an almost exclusive practitioner focussed view of the issue. Thanks for making this point.

The effects of this drug, such as "withdrawal" always seem to describe it from the point of view of the adult observer. The true evils are what the child is experiencing when the adult sees "withdrawal." It's an inability to "act out" what is going on inside. The mind is seething; but the body loses the ability to interpret and relate to the outside world what is going on in that mind.
